20070812-Blogging Burnout

I burned myself out with blogging on a daily basis. I have neglected to record a week’s worth of ‘Daily Thoughts’, poetry has lost all meaning and my dream from this morning was about visiting my house in Antioch probably for the fourth of fifth time already. All experiences are fleeting and very difficult to record on the computer with mere words and in the ‘Ingrish’ language. If there is a perfect way to download all that I am in this current lifetime and life form, I wouldn’t be updating my entries this way.

In the past weeks, I’ve tried writing ‘editorials’ about current events with my usual sarcastic and cynical ‘expressed opinions’ and noticed more hits from search engines on those news-related articles than poetry. And I presumably know my blogs are being monitored because of my past entries, which were transferred from both my Blogger.com and Yahoo! 360 accounts. I have left my stinky smelly trails for the smarter agents (or groupies) to figure out on their own. Once again, I am novice writer trying to share some of my insights to anything possible.

I wanted to explore any possibilities imaginable with this ‘website’ and felt very limited to posting any nonsense I could enter for the sake of keeping myself busy during this jobless state after ‘leaving the company’ in June 2007 for whatever reasons known to only ‘specially treated’ people, who happen to know too much for their own good. I have decided to continue formatting the appearance of my free ‘website’ via WordPress.com with whatever free data I could find online.

Recently, I’ve discovered how to edit my CSS Stylesheet. I like the color blue and wanted to change the ‘background-image:url’ of the ‘body’ from the boring plain blue color of ‘bg.jpg’ to a nice clipart from Microsoft Office online. But in order to have this image linked properly, I had to go to an old post, ‘Edit Post’, ‘Upload’ this saved image from my computer and play around with the ‘background-repeat’. I did the same for the #header section, too.

Today, I learned a little how ‘padding’ and ‘margins’ works. I wanted the text to stop dropping down to the next line at ‘margin’ of zero. The floating box seemed to be in the way. So I played around with the #content sections from the CSS data of the originally selected theme prior to my purchase of a one year subscription (worth 15 credits). But I couldn’t figure out which was the floating box between the content of ‘h2′ and ‘h3′.

So I studied what ‘border-right’ meant and saw that indeed that was this very thin but ‘solid’ line located to the ‘right’ of this floating box. So I pasted the ‘border-right’ instruction from ‘h2′ into ‘h3′ and found out this was a section next to the title of each post. I thought this would fix the text from wrapping around the box but I was wrong. I later changed that to ‘border-left’, placed this back to ‘h2′ and now the floating box has two lines on either side instead of one to the right.

I still didn’t know what a floating box was, researched further and played around with the ‘margin’ and ‘padding’ some more until I found out that changing the bottom value for the ‘margin’ from ‘10px’ to ‘40px’ did the trick. This meant that I could add more ‘Categories’ up until the fourth line. With the fifth line, the text would begin at ‘margin’ zero again. And this pissed me off because the beginning of each post (either image or text) would be ‘pushed’ aside towards to an annoying sight somewhere in the middle instead of at ‘margin’ of zero. So I had to stay with ‘40px’ and no more than this value.

I think my contribution value to the blogging community is an endless endeavor. I am always hungry for any knowledge and would like to know everything and try anything at least once. I noticed over the weekend that the Ethericwarriors.com website has taken a new look with its prettier logo of pink and purple, which is kind of fruity but ‘groovy’ nonetheless. Oh my god: I am getting a disco era flashback with that shiny ball shimmering overhead and those platform shoes, polyester pants and awful hairdos! Take me away, now!

Anyway, I am extremely jealous with all sorts of amenities that I saw in this particular website that I’d like incorporated into my ‘website’ too, such as that nice ‘javascript:ShowHide’ for my sidebar menu. My poetry section has too many sub-categories that I’d like hidden, for example. I also want the layout to have a disclaimer section and my copyright section centered on the bottom next to ‘Powered by WordPress.com’ AND printable for every page. I’d like for the readers to click onto images in place of those boring hovering links, too.

Ah yes, I believe I am a creative nerd with the sensitivity of a stubborn, hairy monkey who is driven to perfection, only to meet with passionate rage if nothing ever goes her way (almost like a fiery, hot-headed goddess in the making). Perhaps instead of pursuing a career as a ‘bean eater’ (sorry, I meant a ‘bean counter’), I could be a computer programmer or a graphic designer, too! I love lots of color and filling the world with my version of love - mostly me. This means I could update my knowledge base by taking more ‘Computer Information Systems’ (or CIS) classes. Wow, I guess I am not finished with blogging after all.
