20070905-Cooking Tale

A shortened parody based on the lyrics of ‘You Are My Sunshine’.

Another light beer
A late night creeping
I screamed and yelled at your cooking charms.
When I smelled smoke here
I felt forsaken
As you wrung the bread and fried.

Chorus:
You are my bunny –
My honey bunny
You keep me hopping
When guys are ‘gay’.
You never show ‘queer’
At rabbit steak stew.
Please don’t make a bunny buffet.

Author’s note: Oh boy! No offense to any particular ‘group’ but really this is about the horror of not knowing how to ‘cook’ for your guy (wink). Actually love the ‘official’ song sung by ‘Kali-Maw’ from my childhood during the days when ‘Shiva-Paw’ was out to sea for nine months at a time.

    Here are the original lyrics to the song for my parody entitled: 20070905-Cooking Tales.

    Song title: ‘You Are My Sunshine’ (The official state song of Louisiana in 1977).
    Words and music by: Former Governor Jimmie H. Davis and Charles Mitchell

    The other night, dear
    As I lay sleeping
    I dreamed I held you in my arms.
    When I awoke, dear
    I was mistaken
    And I hung my head and cried;

    CHORUS:
    You are my sunshine
    My only sunshine
    You make me happy
    When skies are grey
    You’ll never know dear
    How much I love you
    Please don’t take my sunshine away.

    I’ll always love you
    And make you happy
    If you will only say the same
    But if you leave me
    To love another
    You’ll regret it all some day;

    CHORUS

    You told me once, dear
    You really loved me
    And no one else could come between
    But now you’ve left me
    And love another
    You have shattered all my dreams;

    CHORUS

    Louisiana my Louisiana
    the place where I was borne.
    White fields of cotton
    – green fields clover,
    the best fishing
    and long tall corn;

    CHORUS

    Crawfish gumbo and jambalaya
    the biggest shrimp and sugar cane,
    the finest oysters
    and sweet strawberries
    from Toledo Bend to New Orleans;

    CHORUS
