20071213-Gift Exchange
Tonight I got drunk on two and one-half glass of margarita at Pedro’s near my previous employer in Santa Clara, CA. Unfortunately, there was still one more glass of liquid from the pitcher but noone finished it. My head is slightly throbbing but I am alert. I managed to drive home safely and very slowly because HWY 101 northbound was traffic.

The above photo shows a green leprechaun with two four leaf clovers on its chest while it is holding a green flower with a ladybird sitting on it. This was handmade in Germany with pride and joy. The object has white hair, a red nose, a brown pipe and a golden hat. I truly feel lucky tonight. I remember reading about a leprechaun in one book and how he couldn’t get the gold out of this cavern without the help of an ‘outsider’.
This gift exchange was from ‘Jane‘, who used to work as a temp at my previous employer. She is Greek, tall, still stinky and quite talkative that I’m sure ‘Lottie’ was already glazed over from being drunk like the rest of us. We were five altogether with ‘Theresa’ and ‘Carolyn’ as the other two, who talked to each other mostly; while I sat and listened to either pair and not contributing much because I’m the quite one as usual.
Besides spending the extra $12.00 on dinner for cheap appetizers of tamale, nachos, quesadilla and other stuff, I spent an extra $12.00 on Hershey’s chocolate for $2.99 each for the foursome earlier. They thanked me with hugs and I think I made well with four old ‘friends’ with my little early Christmas gifts of edible foodstuff that will go straight to their thighs.
If it weren’t for ‘Carolyn’s surprise holiday greeting today while online via Yahoo! Messenger, I would not have gotten a chance to hang out for once with former co-workers and get drunk like the old times many years ago. I’ve since tried to clean my system out but at this rate a good time is better than sitting in front of the computer all day.
My other old ‘friend’ came back via the Yahoo! Messenger. ‘Randy’ is someone I’ve been thinking about during his temporary gig at my previous employer and I will never forget him for his hardship, too. He is on my ‘happy list’ for sure because I know he is special in some way. He is related not by blood but by his uncle, who is married to my foul-mouth auntie. I was surprised for his quick greeting and added him again for chatting later on.
And of course, my special ward is someone, who by design, has crossed my path and we chatted a little via Yahoo! Messenger for part of the morning. I already know my purpose for over seven years and I am WAITING for any good news to manifest. He asked for my photo and I took lots of mug shots and e-mailed one that I thought was not ‘weird looking’. And I got ‘waves’ of hugs and ‘free’ books in return from him. I feel blessed with these simple gestures from faraway ‘friends’.
And as I digress further, I uploaded a picture of my new necklace from ‘Shrimpsei’ into one forum and got a post deleted for the other forum by him too. The deletion via a PM was a spoiler since I am too slow with the spontaneous sharing of what I thought was being honest. I didn’t know people could fool each other so well.
I am a fool and believe too easily anything or (for that matter) anyone, who have a ‘bruhahaha’ sense of humor to keep sane in this crazy world. That’s why people like me tend to get hurt easily or burned well. The greatest price is not what is exchanged with gifts but the lessons learned from each other as ‘friends’. As a result, the dude is mine now, dammit!
